I had a hibiscus that lasted for over 5 years overwintered inside...one of the few tropicals that I've had success with during the winter months.

I am going to try and winter the hibiscus but I have a feeling it won't do well. We keep the heat turned down in the winter and now with the price of oil, it really will be sort of chilly in the house.

I still have a HBcus that I took off the boat in the office! The big job is keeping them from drying out!!!

Our house gets pretty darn cold, and the hibiscus handled it well, I kept it in the corner of big windows in our bedroom (which before we replaced the old windows you could see the wind blow through the cracks & frost on the inside of the glass)...what finally did mine in was I emptied my aquarium one time & used some of the water on the hibiscus.

While I don't use chemicals in my tank I do put salt in it, I guess the hibiscus didn't like that, even though the salt content wasn't very high. It stopped soaking water up like it used to.. and unknowingly I kept watering it as per usual until one day I noticed the water overflowing above the stones I placed on top of the dirt. It was downhill from there :(

Pretty flowers - they look like green house beauties - you have definitely figured out to care for them.
